We are trying to grind the blades with a big belt sander.
To make a sawplat without setting the teeth needs a high grade of perfection in taper grinding. For that we would need machines we actually don't have.
Interessant. Ist der "belt sander" schnell oder langsam? Macht es die Saege "curl"?
I'll switch to English now because I can't express it in German.
I was thinking of using grinding wheels stacked side-by-side, and putting the saw plate on a sliding sled. It could have spring-loaded depth stops canted at just the right angle so that it would stop grinding when you reached the right depth of cut, (or alternatively, the correct saw plate thickness). It would be easy to determine the correct setting with a dial indicator, then you could just grind away until it's time to flip the saw plate over, make your adjustments, and grind the other side.
It’s a long belt sander wich runs not extrem fast. But Klaus has to be very carefully not to overheat the blade. Your ideas are very interesting. Alas, we don’t make enough saws to buy or build new machines, so we have to use the machines from the inventory.
Guten Tag,
AntwortenLöschenAre you taper-grinding your saw so that the back is thinner than the teeth?
Jay
Hi Jay,
AntwortenLöschenthis saw was'nt taper grinded. Maybe future saws will be.
best wishes
Pedder
